30 Sep 11 to 29 Oct 11
Royal Court Theatre

Since 1892 Liverpool Football Club has won 18 league titles, 5 European Cups, 7 FA Cups, 7 League Cups and 3 UEFA Cups. But that doesn’t tell half of the story.

The show tells stories of the glories on the fields of Anfield Road from Elisha Scott, Albert Stubbins and Billy Liddell to Kenny Dalglish, John Barnes and Steven Gerrard.

With complete access to the LFC archive Nicky Allt has brought together every major incident in the club’s 119 year history. ensemble musical, brimming with comedy, entirely reminiscent of the Everyman style and ethos of old... The cavalcade of songs, ancient and modern, backed by a fine five-piece on-stage band, were generally up-beat... Most versatile players on the night? Pauline Daniels and Lenny Wood.
Liverpool Echo (Rating: 8/10)
...could easily get messy zipping between songs, eras, props but those involved pull it off... a time-perfect sketch about foul-mouthed goalie Elisha Scott... Of course, YNWA is sentimental... The stereotypical Harry Enfield “calm down” Scouser is in there, and predictable quips about Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney... manages to capture what it is to be a Liverpool fan for many and, for them, it’s probably well nigh impossible to be “over-sentimental” about it.

If you’re a Liverpool FC fan, then I cannot recommend this production highly enough. If you’re a fan of entertaining, full-bloodied, passionate, engaging theatre in general; I STILL cannot recommend this production highly enough... The cast were uniformly excellent, with local legend Pauline Daniels holding it all together with wit, charm, and a few barbed one-liners... Mark Moraghan and Anthony Watson are a fine double act... Director Bob Eaton throws everything but the kitchen sink into this fabulous production...
The Public Reviews (Rating: 5/5)
As homages go... has a lot to recommend it... hard to call this a play... nonetheless entertaining... a fine cast... Lenny Wood... continues to go from strength to strength... Excellent, too, is Jamie Hampson... clearly aimed at a niche... even for those neutrals who simply love football and the passion that surrounds it, then there is definitely something here to enjoy.
